Wow! Two wedding features already this year! We are so happy to showcase this wedding in print. It was a gorgeous summer day in Duck, NC at the Grand Ritz Palm, where Katie and Derek got married. Photos by Lori Douglas Photography.
We were so elated to see that we again received a wedding feature in the 2013 Wedding Guide to the Outer Banks! We are always anxious when opening up the magazine to see which weddings were picked, and we were 1 of 3 chosen! The pictures are amazing as usual, taken by Julie Dreelin from Beach Productions. The location was a house called Harbor House in Hatteras Island. It was pouring rain the morning so we moved the tables inside for dinner, and once the rain let up, we moved everything outside. It was a perfectly intimate wedding for one of our favorite Outer Banks Wedding Couples!
Last month when I was in Memphis Tennessee for a wedding, I was walking around Beal Street and just loved their kitchy lit up carriages for brides and grooms. Maybe some day, the Outer Banks will get one for Outer Banks Weddings! That would certainly be fun and unique!
I was browsing through one of my favorite stores, AC Moore, in Virginia the other day and ran across this wall of words and thought, how fantastic!! All of my Outer Banks weddings would look so custom if you picked fun letters, painted them in your wedding colors and used them all over! Some ideas could be:
Bar
Sign here
Table numbers for each of your tables
Love
commitment
Rings
And many more!
Baldwin Video made an amazing video snapshot of a wedding we did together a few months ago. This was a small and intimate wedding located at Gertrude’s Breakaway in Corolla. The ceremony took place on the green grass area next to the and reception tent. They were such a fun couple to work with. And even better, we were the planners for the Maid of Honor’s wedding two years before! Enjoy this beautiful work of an Outer Banks wedding.

Etiquette teacher Avery Harrison from the Outer Banks Wedding & Etiquette Library hosted her weekly Monday Manners class at the Sanderling Resort in Duck, NC. The children had a fun and interactive time learning manners and proper etiquette inside the new Sanderling Pavilion. Make sure to call us before this Monday as it is the last class we are offering at the Sanderling. We are working on our Fall schedule in the next couple weeks and those classes will take place at the Outer Banks Wedding & Etiquette Library. 252-261-0880.
This is our latest article in the North Beach Sun! Be sure to pick up a copy distributed all over the Outer Banks this month!

You may have heard about them, you may have longing memories of them and if you’re like me, you’re ready to go to them. We don’t always know when they’re going to show up, but when we get that warning, the locals here get to’ planning. I’m talking about the infamous hurricane parties of the Outer Banks. Local lore states that they can never be recreated from days past, and much like Fight Club, you do not talk about the “hurricane party”. I was luckily able to coax a few long time locals into giving me some anecdotes of some of the best hurricane parties ever thrown here on the Outer Banks: Read the rest of this entry »
